Pet Sitting

DEAR FRIENDS — I AM NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO DO HOUSE AND PET SITTING!

I was recently hired by Mercy for Animals as their Director of Campaigns and will be moving to Columbus, Ohio in early August to start working for them. Thank you to all of my clients for all of your loyal patronage. I am sad to go, as I will miss all of the wonderful people I met while working and living in DC. If you are ever in Columbus, be sure to drop me a line! Best wishes, FW

Stay-Over House and Pet Sitter No Longer Available in D.C. Area

About myself

My name is Freeman Wicklund. I am an experienced house and pet sitter who will work anywhere in the DC metro area, although I focus on clients in the Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan areas. I love all animals, and have had experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, hamsters, gerbils, and even an iguana. References are available below.

I am a responsible, 33-year-old, professional, non-smoking male. Besides house and pet sitting I work as a freelance writer and humane educator. Please contact me for more information about sitting for your home and animals. Thanks!

Services

I will live in your house while you are away so I can provide companionship and care for your animals and a deterrent to thieves and vandals. I will provide medication, food, water, exercise and love to your animals according to their routine. I will also water plants, take in the mail, and respond to any household problems. Should an emergency arise, I will contact you and take action to respond. All of this will be done so you can rest assured that your home and animals are receiving the highest care while you are away.

Rates

My rates beat all competing overnight house sitting agencies. I also do not charge initial registration or consultation fees, or key pick-up fees as many of them do. My general rates* are as follows:

$55 a day for sits of three or fewer days.
$50 a day for sits of four days to a week.
$45 a day for sits longer than a week.

* Rates may be higher for sits requiring an atypically large workload, or outside of the Dupont Circle/Adams Morgan area.

First letter

Dear Homeowner and Animal Guardians,

As someone who has entrusted Freeman Wicklund to the care of my beloved geriatric rabbit, I would wholeheartedly recommend him for the care of any animal companion. Freeman is an attentive, incredibly competent caregiver whose primary consideration was our rabbit’s health and well-being.

He provided us with an in-depth consultation before we left, spending time learning our rabbit’s routines, taking notes on her medication schedules, as well as getting to know her.

While we were gone, Freeman attended to all of her medical, physical, and social needs. He gave her complicated dosages of her medication, and when her chronic illness flared up, Freeman recognized the symptoms quickly and immediately took her to our vet. After the appointment, he added the new medications to her routine, continuing this excellent care of her until our return.

When we arrived, our house was absolutely spotless, neighbors were happy, and most importantly, our rabbit was very happy.

We were able to enjoy our vacation because we knew that our family was in compassionate, capable hands while we were gone. We knew that Freeman was spending time taking care of her, as well as spending time playing with her, petting her, and giving her the love and attention that is so important.

I would recommend Freeman as both a housesitter, as well as a temporary animal guardian, to anyone—without reservation.

To Whom It May Concern:

I wholeheartedly recommend Freeman Wicklund for house-sitting and companion-animal sitting.

While my partner and I went out of the country for a week last fall, Freeman stayed in my partner’s apartment and took care of our dog and two cats.

In preparing for the stay, Freeman was thorough in his preparation, asking for a preliminary tour of the building, a run-through of all procedures, and all necessary phone numbers (taking notes all the while).

He loves animals and is extremely good with them. His responsibilities with my dog were extensive because he had to take her to our office every day. (Freeman and I were coworkers at the time, and my dog came to our office every day with me.) He did a great job making sure all of her needs were met, and she took a strong liking to Freeman.

Freeman also took excellent care of our two cats, as well as the apartment, which was left as tidy as it had been when we departed.

I will not hesitate to ask Freeman to house-sit for us again whenever we go out of town. If you’d like to ask me any questions, please feel free to call me at [phone number available upon request].

Sincerely,
Liesel W.
